Meeting with Environment, Forests & Climate Change Minister

An IPMA Delegation comprising of Mr. A S Mehta, Vice President, Mr. Madhukar Mishra, Past President, and Secretary General, met Mr. Anil Madhav Dave, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forests & Climate Change (I/C), Government of India, on 1st March 2017 at Indira Paryavaran Bhavan, New Delhi.

A presentation was made to the Minister on ‘Interventions Needed for Long Term Sustainability of Paper Industry in India’.

The Minister was apprised of two major issues (1) Need for Finalisation of the Draft Guidelines for Participation of Private Sector in Afforestation of Degraded Forests; (2) Request for Extension of Deadlines for Compliance & Revision of Discharge Norms Charter for Water Recycling & Pollution Prevention (WRPP) in Pulp & Paper Industries – Specific to Ganga River Basin (GRB) States.

The Minister kindly agreed to look into the various issues highlighted by IPMA.
