Govt intervention sought to safeguard industry from escalating imports
Mr. A S Mehta, Chairman, IPMA Commercial & Taxation Sub-Committee, and IPMA Secretary General, met Mr. Vinay Chhabra, Director General Safeguards, Ministry of Finance, on 30th March 2016 at the Directorate General of Safeguards, New Delhi. A presentation was made on the Interventions needed for long term sustainability of paper industry in India, highlighting the present precarious status and outlook of the industry, increasing raw material cost, threat from escalating imports, and the government interventions needed to safeguard the health and financial viability of the Indian Pulp & Paper Industry.
